In 2011, PAWS Atlanta celebrates a major milestone – our 45th Anniversary!
Each year, hundreds of abused, neglected or abandoned animals become part of the PAWS Atlanta family. Our dedicated staff and committed volunteers work tirelessly to mend their bodies, heal their spirits and find them loving, permanent homes. Since its inception, originally as the DeKalb Humane Society in 1966, PAWS Atlanta has adopted over 40,000 animals into loving, permanent homes.
In 2006, PAWS Atlanta launched two programs in the community that are vital to our mission. We began offering discounted vaccinations, to promote responsible pet ownership, and spay or neuter services, to prevent pet overpopulation. In the past five years, we have spayed or neutered over 5,000 animals and vaccinated over 13,000 animals in Metro Atlanta through our low-cost clinics.
At PAWS Atlanta, we look at every changed life as a measure of our success: the injured puppy who pulls through surgery, the orphaned kitten who gains a pound, the joyous family walking out the door with their new lifelong companion. We know our work – made possible through the collaboration of our staff, volunteers, donors and adopters – results in positive change every day. When combined, these incremental changes and individual efforts make PAWS Atlanta a leader in animal welfare.
As we look to the next forty-five years and beyond, we know that together, we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of homeless animals. Your gift makes a difference. Support PAWS Atlanta today.
