What ages are accepted for PAWS Atlanta PALS summer camp?

Ages 8-13 

How long does the camp run?

Camps are one-week long, starting from 9am and ending at 1pm Monday through Friday.

What will the kids do all day?

PAWS Atlanta PALS summer camp is packed full of activities. There will be guided tours, guest speakers, crafts, teamwork games, behind-the-scenes experiences and other special activities! 

What is the camper to adult ratio?

There will be approximately 15 children per camp, with a main instructor and two adult volunteers. The children will be supervised at all times.

How much does it cost? How do I pay?

What is included in the registration fee?

One snack each day. Campers must bring a sack lunch and water bottle from home. 

What kind of lunch should I send with my camper?

A sack lunch is recommended. When packing your child’s lunch, please keep in mind that there is no microwave, oven, or refrigerator available to campers. For the safety of all campers, staff and volunteers, please do not pack your child any food containing peanuts or other nut products.

Light snacks and water will be provided by PAWS Atlanta daily. Your camper needs to bring his or her own closed-top bottle for drinks (we recommend a reusable one). If your child has food allergies or you do not want your child to have specific food products, please let us know. You are welcome to pack your child a snack in lieu of the ones provided at camp. 

How much interaction will they have with the animals?

Each day will provide close encounter experiences with the healthy dogs and cats at the shelter. At no time will the campers be left alone with the animals. 

What should my child wear to camp?

All campers must wear closed-toe shoes with rubber, non-slip soles, and pants or shorts of at least knee- length. Please wear sunscreen! Campers will receive a name badge on the first day of camp.

Please keep in mind that activities throughout the day may cause damage to your child’s clothing. We suggest sending your child in clothes that you do not mind getting damaged. Campers who do not adhere to this dress code may not be able to participate in some scheduled activities. 

Where do I drop off/pick up my child during camp?

Please bring your child to PAWS Atlanta located at 5287 Covington Highway, Decatur, GA 30035. You will need to walk your child to the front door of the shelter and sign them in each day. Late arrivals may miss out on a scheduled activity or cause disruptions, so please arrive promptly.

Please pick your child up no later than 1pm each day. Campers must be signed out by their parent, guardian, or other adult listed on his/her pick-up list. Please ensure that whoever is picking up your child at the end of the day is on your child’s pick-up list; in addition, whoever is picking up your child must present a photo ID in order for your child to be released into his/her custody. 

Is childcare available before or after the normal camp hours?

No. Please note that we are not a daycare facility. You may not drop your child off before 9am or pick them up after 1pm.
