Volunteering with PAWS Atlanta

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at PAWS Atlanta!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PAWS Atlanta is closed to the public to do our part to slow the spread of the virus. Due to the DeKalb County Shelter-In-Place Executive Order, daily operations will be handled by staff only.  Volunteers are no longer allowed on site until further notice.

We couldn't care for over 1,000 cats and dogs every year without our compassionate and dedicated volunteers. Each year our volunteers give hands-on care to animals, educate our community, provide administrative support and more. We provide the training for all volunteer positions, so no prior experience is required. Whether feeding orphaned puppies, finding homes for cats and kittens, or helping to make an event successful, you can be a part of the life-saving work we do!

Expectations of PAWS Volunteers

While people come to PAWS because they love animals, PAWS volunteers must also be able to work well with other people. PAWS isn't just about animals - It's about people helping animals.

  • For everyone's protection, volunteers must use the safe animal handling techniques taught in their required training.

  • All tasks, from cleaning cages to stuffing envelopes, have specific procedures. Volunteers must adhere to these procedures unless a staff member directs them otherwise.
