Homer is a very friendly guy, and he needs to be the only cat in the home to make sure he gets all the attention. Because of this, it took some time for him to find the right home. Homer arrived at PAWS Atlanta when he was surrendered by his previous owner. He was adopted a few months later but was returned because he wasn't the right fit. We knew that the perfect home was out there for him, it was simply a matter of finding it. 

When Homer's new dad met him, he fell in love immediately. Homer is now thriving in his new home, and his dad gushed over him in a recent message to our team. Here's what he had to say: 

"I adopted Homer because he is a loving cat. Once I saw him and his chubby little cheeks in the shelter, he was very friendly and walked right up to me to get pets and scratches. He does the same thing whenever anyone new visits my apartment. He loves people. 

Homer is currently doing great. He loves snuggling with me when I'm watching a movie or playing a video game, and I have a small cat bed on my desk for him to lay in when I work. Occasionally, he gets adventurous and climbs on top of the kitchen cabinets or the washer and dryer when I forget to close the laundry room door. He also loves staring out the window when there's a bird or neighbor walking a dog outside. 

When I get home from work, I'm always greeted with a long speech from Homer. He can be a very talkative guy, and when he has something to say, you'll hear about it. When it gets late and time to go to sleep, Homer has made a habit of climbing on top of me to "make biscuits" on my shoulder while I'm trying to sleep. Eventually, he'll stop and just lay on me for a few minutes. 

He's just a comforting presence to have around, and even though I wasn't looking for an emotional support animal, he has somewhat become that for me. He calms me down when I feel anxious. I know that whenever I need a hug, I can always count on Homer to comfort me. He's currently laying on my lap as I type this. Homer is my only pet, and I'm sure he loves that cause he is the only one that will get my attention. I love Homer so much, and he's such a great cat!"
