Clifford Finds His Forever Humans
Clifford, now often called by his adorable nickname Clippy, arrived at PAWS Atlanta last November. He was surrendered by his previous owner at only five months old. Despite a rocky start to his little puppy life, he's the most optimistic pup. We had no doubt he would get scooped up, and after only a month, he found the perfect new home. Believe it or not, young puppies are at a high-risk of becoming long-term shelter guests. They haven't had much time to develop social skills and manners, and their frustration growing up in a shelter can turn to aggression easily. Thankfully, this is not Clippy's story. His is pretty close to perfect. Here are his new mom's updates on his post-adoption life:
Why did you decide to adopt Clippy?
My boyfriend really wanted a dog so we decided to foster and fell in love with Clifford, so we adopted him immediately.
How is Clippy doing now?
He's doing great and growing every day! He's currently in training classes three days a week and has been learning a lot the last couple months.
How is his relationship with other pets in your family?
We do not have any other pets in our home, but every few weeks I take him over to my parents' house. They have a 13-year-old dog and they get along pretty well, despite the age difference!
What kind of activities does Clippy enjoy?
Clifford loves playing in the backyard, especially with his soccer ball. He also enjoys all of the toys we've gotten him. He's grown quite fond of his squirrel toy and loves when you chase him around the house trying to take his squirrel from him. He also loves taking naps on the bed and couch.
How does Clippy show his love?
Clifford always likes to be by our side either next to us on the couch, underneath the dinner table or my office desk, and in the kitchen while we're cooking. He generally just likes being near us and when he's feeling super affectionate he'll let you cuddle him.
What do you love most about Clippy?
I love everything about Clifford, he is the absolute best. I love his personality and how goofy he is, and how he always wants to be near you. He's the sweetest dog, and we're so grateful to have adopted him!
