Living Their Best Golden Years

Thanks to a Grey Muzzle Organization Grant

We are incredibly proud to care for senior dogs and cats here at PAWS Atlanta. In 2021, 58 senior animals (39 dogs and 19 cats) found their forever home. Sometimes it’s not so easy for these seniors to find that new special place. Individuals and families are often drawn to puppies/kittens and younger dogs/cats and are also hesitant about what medical issues these seniors might face in the coming years. That’s why we’re so grateful to The Grey Muzzle Organization for standing with PAWS Atlanta in our efforts by awarding us a lifesaving grant to provide medical care for senior dogs.

The folks at Grey Muzzle “envision a world where every senior dog thrives and no old dog dies alone and afraid,” and we couldn’t agree more! Thanks to Grey Muzzle, we’re able to provide senior dogs with preventative care (including basic blood screens, urinalysis, thyroid and other tests) and medical care (including vaccines, microchips, spay/neuter, heartworm treatment, preventatives, and other medical care). Support helps senior pups like 8 Track.

This adorable guy came to PAWS with some medical issues and currently lives in a foster home. Before that, though, he ruled our cat cottage kitchen (which we called the "senior center") with his good friend, Sloppy Joe (they even have matching couches). With the help of Grey Muzzle, 8 Track has been treated by our veterinary team for several medical issues and is making good progress. Thank you, Grey Muzzle Organization, for leading the way to save and improve the lives of senior dogs nationwide and being there for our senior dogs!
