This senior flourished in his foster home!
Jet (10) is a sweet boy at heart, but he doesn't thrive at the shelter. Many of our animals feel some stress when they don't have their own space, but Jet has had a particularly hard time. He's too overwhelmed to live in a room in our cat cottage with other feline friends, so he has his own double-decker kennel. Even so, he's not a fan of the hustle and bustle and sometimes gives the cold shoulder to staff or potential adopters.
However, in his foster home, he was a completely different cat: comfy, relaxed, affectionate, and playful. He's currently in our shelter because his foster mom has been on vacation, but he can't wait to go back. When he gets a break from the shelter, his tough-guy exterior evaporates, and he's able to nap with reckless abandon. He constantly follows his foster mom, Laura, around to request more food. Jet initially came to us after nearly a decade in a loving home, and his previous owner wanted him to live out the rest of his life with other cats. We don't think Jet is anywhere close to being done sharing head boops, and he definitely doesn't want to spend his retirement with over 30 other cats. Though he can still be a bit grumpy ("Kids, get off my lawn!" grandpa attitude), being in a foster home made his life so much better. Plus, it allows him to be his best self when he meets any future adopters!
