Give Love a Chance

Kipling's Story

Kipling waited a whole year to find his forever home. This handsome brindle guy was big on energy and a little short on manners. We knew that his forever family would need to be special, just like him. When we met Sheila and her family, we knew it would be a perfect match! Sheila reached out to us recently to tell us all about how Kipling is doing in his forever home.

"Kipling is such a ROCK STAR! Your staff told me he was great, but I still had concerns. These concerns melted away during the first week. We are continually surprised at all the things he knows and the speed with which he learns. Then there's the personality. He loves everyone and pretty much everything. He is the snuggliest dog we've ever known (he's number eight in our adult life). We were surprised when we began doing obedience work with him at how much he already knew. He works hard to learn more too - you can see the cogs turning whenever he's exposed to something new. I can only thank your team for that - unless maybe he was watching YouTube in his free time!

We're in basic obedience classes currently, and I'm hoping to get him into intermediate next week. He runs short bits with me, is learning to catch the frisbee, and has learned to be respectful of his giant sister (I think she had a conversation with him). He's figured out exactly when he's allowed on the bed (not much!) and when it's snuggle time in the evening. We're working on his mouthiness (1000% better) and drop-it (50% better). We've not given him a chance to prove that he's housebroken yet but he's doing well with moving toward that, and he goes on command.

In summary, his caveman score has dropped from 7/10 to less than 2/10! He's grown into a certified Good Sweet Boy in just three weeks. We're so glad that your team encouraged us to give him a chance!"

Shelter animals like Kipling are often overlooked by potential adopters. Many families want a dog who is already fully trained or a cat who is outgoing and social with everyone. But our animals who need a little extra love and confidence need families too! Many times, behaviors that they exhibit at the shelter disappear when they're able to relax and be themselves in a real home. Currently, we have 28 dogs and five cats who have been at PAWS Atlanta for over a year, and they would love to meet you. Reach out to learn more about our long-time guests!
