Forever Home for the Holidays
Lucy (previously Carrie) spent several years of her life at PAWS Atlanta. While she was a staff favorite, what our team wanted more than anything was for her to find a forever home. This holiday season, Lucy got just that!
Lucy's mom, Meagan, shared an update with us about Lucy's new life and how excited she is to have a home of her own.
Why did you decide to adopt Lucy?
After our dog Tyson passed away, we knew our other pup, Andi, needed a buddy to feel more secure at home while we were at work. While scrolling the PAWS Atlanta Instagram, I came across a post for Carrie and was drawn to her immediately. She seemed like she would be a good playmate for Andi, and the fact that she had been in the shelter for more than two years really tugged at my heartstrings. My very first dog had a similar experience. My husband and I met Lucy and immediately fell in love with her snuggly, playful personality. The next week, we introduced Andi and Lucy, and they hit it off so well! We brought her home that day and they've been inseparable ever since.
How is Lucy doing now?
Lucy is doing well and is adjusting at her own pace. She is still getting used to what it's like to live in a house and all the noises and scary things that come with that (the vacuum is her nemesis). She is also working hard at learning how to be a good listener on-leash. She does still experience lots of anxiety with unfamiliar sounds and people walking past the house, but we know that in time she will learn she is safe.
How is Lucy's relationship with Andi?
Lucy and Andi are best friends and play together CONSTANTLY! They like to run laps together around the backyard and play tug-of-war.
What activities does Lucy enjoy?
Lucy's favorite activities include chewing on toys, giving kisses, running as fast as she can to keep up with Andi, getting training treats on her walks, teasing Andi with toys, and zoomies!
How does Lucy show her love?
Lucy shows her love by snuggling with her head in your lap, giving sloppy kisses, bringing you a toy to play with her, and waking you up by jumping on you in bed.
What do you love most about Lucy?
Her playful spirit! She has so much energy and excitement! We are working with her to hone that energy into good manners, safe play, fun training, and feelings of security. We are sometimes sad that she had to spend so much of her early years in a shelter but are so thankful for the PAWS Atlanta team for loving her well and saving her for us.
Happy tails, Lucy! If you'd like a grant a holiday wish for a pet in need, learn more about our adoption process.
