Mama Milkshake and her 13 sweeties

Our mama, Milkshake, delivered a super-size order of lil' fries on August 6: 13 beautful puppies with the help of her doulas, Lisa and Steve. The first puppy was born at 7:45pm and the last at 4:00am (talk about a long night for the birthing team)! Mom knew exactly what to do and adored having her foster mom and dad shower her with love and encouragement during her 7+ hours of delivery.

The squad includes 7 boys and 6 girls each with names as sweet as their mama: Caramel Cream, Moose Tracks, Scoop, Butterscotch, Coffee Toffee, Chunky Monkey, Fudge Brownie, Chip, Frosty, Fribble, Praline, Blizzard, and Reese's Pieces (phew!).

Caramel is the smallest of the litter, trying mightily each day to wiggle her little body in and fight with heavy weights Moose Tracks and Chunky Monkey for milk. Lisa and Steve have helped her gain weight by giving her exclusive teat time with mama and bottle feeding daily.

Their eyes just opened last Saturday (imagine waking up to 28 adorable eyes gazing up at you lovingly each morning) and a few of the pups have started to walk. As far as their foster parents can tell, the pups' favorite hobbies are eating, sleeping, and cuddling with their siblings in the puppy pile (life is hard!).

Lisa told us that Milkshake is a wonderful mother. She is a total love and enjoys spending quality time with her people… but not out of sight of her babies. In between her busy schedule of eating (this small girl eats A LOT - every 3-4 hours) and feeding she has learned the commands to sit and lie down. 

We are eternally grateful to Milkshake's foster parents and doulas  who not only stayed up all night to assist this sweet mama in safely delivering her pups, but they continue to take the best care of our girl so she in turn can be an incredible mother.
