PAWS Atlanta Board Member
Atul Kanvinde is new to the PAWS Atlanta Board, and we're excited to have him on the team!
Why did you decide to join the PAWS Atlanta Board?
I know Patty Lavely (PAWS Atlanta Board Chair) as a fellow healthcare IT leader. I am connected with her on LinkedIn. One day she posted that PAWS was looking for Board members. My wife and I have been contemplating on when and how to help animal shelters for a while. The drive was only getting stronger as we watch our beloved fur kid grow old. Call it coincidence or serendipity, I answered Patty’s call and here I am.
What type of work do you do outside of PAWS Atlanta?
I am a healthcare technology leader working to serve the kids who come to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for specialized care. I am the director of the team that enables providers, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians in the hospitals to do what they do for their patients.
What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies?
I don't have free time because I spend it all with our dog! When he is resting and napping, though, I dabble in some music production. I also spend some serious time on photography.
Tell us about your pets and your family!
My wife and I are the proud and happy parents of a yellow Labrador named Simba.
Anything else you want to share about you?
I am a Georgia Tech Industrial Engineer. We lived in Michigan for nearly 20 years before moving back to Atlanta. Simba is the first dog in my life and I am forever grateful to my wife for bringing me into the world of dogs, and to Simba, for letting me be his buddy.
