Muggins came into our care after being rescued by a few patients at a residential psychiatric facility. When they took him to the vet, they discovered he needed to be an indoor kitty right away! He had an allergy to mosquitos and tested positive for FIV. FIV is often passed between fighting cats, but a cat can also be born with it. It is an immunodeficiency virus; however, studies have shown that FIV cats living indoors tend to live full and happy lives.
Muggins doesn't seem to notice or care that he's FIV+. He has now lived with both cats and dogs peacefully, and he's thriving indoors. He's currently living in a foster home and doing fantastic. At 12 years old, he's a low-energy cat and loves to lounge in the windows and play with all of his toys.
His original rescuers say that Muggins is "beyond sweet with so much love to give. He meant so much to the patients who rescued him. He is a special boy with a special place in many hearts. I would really like him to live out the rest of his life in a home where he can receive the same love he has given." His ideal home would be with someone who can make him feel like the special kitty he is, along with plenty of time for relaxing. He might also need someone who will help him shed a few pounds - he's a big kitty who loves food!
Muggins is a member of our Secret Crush Club, which means his adoption fee has been covered by an adoring fan (so you can spoil him with extra treats and toys)!
If you think Muggins could be your best fur friend, submit an adoption application to info@pawsatlanta.org to start the process.
