Po (previously Shah) arrived at PAWS Atlanta in the spring of 2026. He was found by a community member, and, though it seemed like he'd lived in a home before, they couldn't find an owner. He wasn't meant to be an outdoor kitty, so he came to PAWS to began his journey home. Po loved people right away, so we were determined to find him a new place of his own. 

Po spent several months in the Cat Cottage waiting. We dubbed him the mayor of his room, as he greeted every visitor with affection. Despite his best efforts, he continued to be overlooked for younger kittens. Though Po was only a few years old, our newest kittens often caught the eye of adopters first, as is often the case. Adult and senior cats tend to spend a longer time in shelters, and while we're always happy to see any shelter kitty find a home, it can be especially heartbreaking when our oldest residents wait the longest.

After several months, Po went to a foster home. We were so excited to see him get the one-on-one affection he clearly craved, but we ultimately wanted him to find a home of his own. His foster bolstered his website profile with photos and more details about his sweet, playful personality. Our fosters are often crucial in helping our pets get adopted, as they can provide more information about what a pet is actually like once they're settled into a family. What we see at the shelter is often only a glimpse of a pet's full personality, and though Po was no introvert in the Cat Cottage, his affectionate side really blossomed in his foster home.

Finally, after a few months in foster, someone reached out about meeting him. They'd seen his adorable face on our website and fell in love. In August, Po met his now-family and headed home for good. He even has a new sister! His new family let us know that his first few weeks at home were great, and that his gradual meeting with his cat sister is going well. Po's days alone on the street are officially over, and he's finally home.
