Family Finds Perfect Feline
When Whiskers (previously Skippity Paps) arrived at PAWS Atlanta, she was a shy and scared. She had been left at our gate and, understandably, suspicious of humans. She spent a lot of time hiding underneath and inside everything in the Cat Cottage. Whiskers wasn't a fan of meeting new people or, really, people at all. Gradually, though, she started coming out of her shell. After some time, she showed everyone what a sweetheart she actually is. While she was still a bit reserved at first, once a few head pets, she opened right up.
Whiskers was adopted after a few months with us but was returned not long after for reasons beyond her control. We were disappointed to see her back, but we knew that her perfect fit was out there somewhere. Little did we know, she would find a family that would shower her so enthusastically with love. Her new people wrote to us recently and said the following:
"Just wanted to THANK YOU for letting us adopt "Skippity Paps", who is now named Whiskers! She is so sweet, and there was nothing difficult about her transition into our home with our other two cats. After only three days she was walking around as if she had lived with us her whole life! Our previous cat was a tuxedo that looked almost exactly like her - the only difference is that our cat, Luna, who passed away from lymphoma, had a white line of fur in her nose and a white chin but Whiskers doesn't.
We tried calling Whiskers by her rescue name, "Skippity Paps", but she didn't really respond to it. I thought she looked more like a Whiskers, so I tried it, and she came right to me! I guess she knew she wanted a different name all along. She loves to play with our other two kitties, and it's so fun to watch. They all get along beautifully. Whiskers is just as sweet as she can be, and we love her so much!"
Whiskers new mom and dad often share updates and photos of her with us on social media, and it's clear that they are completely obsessed with her (and we don't blame them!). Often, all a pet needs is someone who will take the time to understand them to help them blossom.
