Tucker's Happily Ever After
Tucker was surrendered to PAWS Atlanta by his previous owner in April of 2015, and our staff immediately fell in love with this sweet boy. He did well with all our other shelter dogs, even the most rambunctious. Each of us would’ve loved to bring him home, and we couldn’t wait for him to find the right family. Two months later, he did.
His mom reached out to us recently to update us, and we couldn’t wait to share how this good boy is doing!
Why did you decide to adopt Tucker?
I have always wanted a big dog, and once my husband and I purchased a house with a nice, fenced in yard, I knew the time was right. I saw Tucker's profile on the PAWS Atlanta website, and we went to visit him. When we saw him in his kennel, he was quietly laying down, and seemed to have a sweet personality. We spent time with him in the outside walking area, and he was so friendly. He was such a beautiful dog, and after meeting him, we decided to take him home with us.
How is Tucker doing now?
Tucker is still as sweet as ever. He is in his senior dog days now, as we think he is about 11 years old, but he’s still the same happy boy. He’s friendly, playful, and a joy. He does have some common older dog problems, but that doesn't stop him from being the sweetest dog ever!
How is Tucker’s relationship with the rest of your family?
When we adopted Tucker seven years ago, it was just him, my husband, and me. We had our son four years ago, and Tucker has taken well to being an older brother. He’s the best family dog. My son adores him, and Tucker is very gentle with him. Tucker is very friendly with other dogs at doggy day care and the dog park and makes friends wherever he goes.
What kind of activities does Tucker enjoy?
Tucker loves to sleep! He also loves going on walks, riding in the car, running around the backyard, and laying under the bushes in the shade. He loves a good belly rub and having his ears scratched too.
How does Tucker show his love?
Tucker likes to follow me around the house. He likes to come up and nudge you to let you know he wants you to pet him. He jumps up in excitement any time he sees his leash and wags his tail when he is happy.
What do you love most about Tucker?
Tucker is the best dog. He is my first dog, and I couldn't have asked for a better companion. I love his size and his sweetness. He is the perfect pet.
