Sherry's Story

Starting Over

Sherry came to PAWS Atlanta in 2021 when her previous owner could no longer care for her. We were glad to have Sherry in our care, and, because she was so friendly and sweet, we knew she would find a home quickly. She loved everyone she met, enjoyed meeting other dogs around the shelter, and always had a smile on her face. Six months later, Sherry was adopted! We were so excited that she would be able to feel the love of a home again.

However, a few days after Christmas 2023, we got a call from our local animal control. Sherry had ended up at their shelter, and our contact information was still attached to her microchip. Our team went to pick her up immediately, and set her up comfortably in our admin office for her quarrantine period. Sherry seemed as high spirited as ever, but our hearts broke thinking of what she might have been through. She's settled back into the shelter well, and we can't wait for her to finally find the loving home she deserves.

At PAWS Atlanta, we always take our animals back no matter the situation. Whether they're found at another shelter, not the right fit for their adopter, or their adopter becomes ill, our animals are welcomed back with open arms. We never want a PAWS alumnus to end up without a place to land. However, this means it can be difficult to predict our month-to-month expenses. We never expected Sherry to wind back up at our shelter, but, thanks to the monthly support of our Guardian Angels, we're able to provide her with everything she needs.

When you become a Guardian Angel, you help ensure that every animal like Sherry receives the care they deserve, even when their arrival is unexpected. Will you join our Guardian Angels and save lives like Sherry's?
