Fig's Story

Fig arrived at PAWS Atlanta in January of 2021 when she was surrendered by her previous owner. She immediately stole the hearts of our staff with her gorgeous fluffy coat and outgoing temperament. However, many adopters shied away from her because of just how big and sassy she was. In addition, the longer she spent at the shelter, the less focused she became. Animals respond to the stress of shelter life in different ways, and some, like Fig, need the routine of a loving home to be their best selves.

Because of her size and her energy, we were worried that Fig would get stuck in a cycle of being overlooked and overwhelmed. When she met her now-parents, though, everything changed. They fell in love immediately with her huge personality. They knew how special she was and wanted to spoil her with the love she deserves. After over a year in the shelter, Fig was adopted!

Now, Fig is living her dreams. Fig's mom says that she is "living her most glamorous and unruly life ever. Fig gets frequent visits to the puppy spa for her monthly grooming and has an acre of land to run around on. Her loving family consists of her mommy, daddy (her favorite!), grandma, aunt, and one-year-old nephew (who she believes is her baby). She loves walks around the neighborhood, her chew toys, and running through the different floors of the house to conduct her hourly neighborhood watch out the windows. Fig is a large-and-in-charge, loving floof who can brighten the darkest of days in our home."

You can find Fig on Instagram under the handle @FiggyPiggyPie. You don't want to miss out on all the adorable photos of her in her post-grooming bows and videos of her getting pets from her dad!

Every animal in our care deserves to be spoiled like Fig, and we want each one of them to find the loving homes they deserve. We're in it for the long haul, especially for the 37 dogs and four cats who have been at our shelter for over a year. Will you help these animals receive the care they need while they wait for their perfect family? Will you join us for the long haul? Give now.
