Rescue Brew Winner!
Dottie Waffles arrived at PAWS Atlanta late one night in 2019. She was left behind at our gate by herself, so our team rushed out to bring her to safety. From day one, Dottie was all smiles. We knew this underbite queen would find her people in no time, and we were right! Just a few weeks later, Dottie's now-parents came to PAWS Atlanta looking for a pup to join their family. And Dottie was just silly enough to fit right in!
After she was adopted, her new parents spent a long time thinking of the perfect name to suit her. (Her name at PAWS Atlanta had been Anita, after one of our Board Members, but they didn't think it was quite right.) She had black spots, big and small, sprinkled throughout her white fur, not to mention those expressive perma-brows above her giant eyes. At first, they thought about caling her Dot (Dorothy in formal business meetings), but her mom is a self-proclaimed weirdo and wanted her to have a name like an old timey street tuff in a newsie cap - something you tell the kids to get them to go to sleep. For example, “If you don’t go to sleep, Dottie Waffles will come in the night and steal your breakfast.” Finally, they landed on "Dottie Waffles." Just nonsensical enough to fit the silliest chihuahua out there.
Dottie is SO loved and has come a long way from the night she was left in our parking lot. She's spoiled with all the dog beds and treats her heart desires, smiling through it all. She also receives 8,000 kisses a day as prescribed.
She fills her home with her larger-than-life personality, making her way into her mom’s art and onto stickers and t-shirts to help raise money for animal rescues, and now, beer cans!
Congrats to Dottie and to all the pets who entered our first Rescue Brew Contest! Stay tuned for bios of our second and third place winners. And, if you're like us and can't get enough of Dottie's face, pre-order your four-pack of Rescue Brew now! That way, you'll be able to smile right back at her every time you take a sip.
