365 Days of Care
Harley first arrived at PAWS Atlanta in 2021, when she was surrendered by her previous owner. She was full of smiles, and we couldn't wait for her to find a new family. Shortly after, she was adopted! Our team was comforted that sweet Harley would get to relax and enjoy a loving home.
However, in the fall of 2023, her adoptive family reached back out to us. Her owner had become very ill and could no longer care for her. She came back to PAWS Atlanta, hoping for another chance at being part of a family. Harley was a perfect pup all around: sweet, calm, and affectionate. However, she was constantly overlooked for younger pups. At six-years-old, Harley wasn't a spring chicken, but she still had plenty to give for a family who would give her a chance.
While she waited for a home, Harley was a model guest in the Cat Cottage. We often brought her to meet volunteer groups and scout troops. She loved meeting new people, and our team knew we could rely on her to be calm, cool, and collected. A year went by, and Harley was still waiting in the Cat Cottage. She enjoyed getting treats and pets throughout the day, but life in the Cat Cottage kitchen wasn't the same as life in a loving home. Our team brought Harley to meet every adopter we thought she might be a good fit for, but to no avail.
Eventually, Harley caught the eye of a family interested in fostering a dog. They brought her home, and we were excited for Harley to get a break from shelter life. Even better, after a month of caring for her, her foster family knew there was no way they could bring her back to the shelter. They decided to officially adopt Harley! After so much change and uncertainty, Harley finally got the happily-ever-after our team had hoped for.
Thanks to generous supporters like you, our team was able to care for Harley every day until she found her new family. Whether it was food, treats, medications, or leashes for walks on the trail, your generosity provided Harley with everything she needed while she was at PAWS Atlanta. 365 days a year, our animals need to be cared for. Will you help our cats and dogs feel safe and loved, every day, every season?
