Welcome our Communications and Campaign Manager!

Brenna Lakeson (they/she) is so excited to be a part of the PAWS Atlanta team! They grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and stayed in their home state to go to college at Elon University. They moved to Atlanta in 2013 to attend graduate school at Emory University, and they loved the city so much they decided to stay! 

Their path to nonprofit work has been winding, studying music education and then theology, but they're grateful to have ended up here! Brenna has worked in a variety of nonprofits with churches, student groups, and people experiencing homelessness. They believe storytelling can change the world, and can’t wait to tell the stories of all of the fur babies at PAWS Atlanta! Their work at PAWS Atlanta is focused on social media, content creation, and fundraising campaigns.

Their love for animals started early with their childhood cat, Lacy. Their passion for animal welfare really blossomed in college when they "accidentally" became a foster parent to a neighborhood cat. Since then, they’ve fostered over 20 cats and kittens! They currently have three foster kittens: Frankenstein & Wolverine (“the twins”) and Confetti, although this number is apt to change by the time you're reading this.

On any given weekend they can be found doing yoga, out for a run, or gardening in their backyard. (And probably trapping community cats to TNR or rescue!) On weeknights, though, they’re most likely cooking and watching Law & Order: SVU. They live in Decatur with their fiancé, Tyler, and three (not foster) cats: Beyoncé, Eleanor Shellstrop, and Miss Kitty.
