The Pets' Choice Award goes to...

Our volunteers provide a tremendous resource to our organization and absent their support, we would have a difficult time bringing people and pets together. And while all of our volunteers are special, some set themselves apart.

The Pets' Choice Award recognizes the volunteer who has selflessly and consistently supported our lifesaving mission throughout the year. Someone whose presence makes PAWS Atlanta a better place and who makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the animals we care for.

There’s a quote on the front of our building that reads, “For it is in giving that we receive,” and we could think of no person that better exemplifies the sentiment behind this statement than Pam Marcus.

When our Executive Director, Joe, first met Pam she told him to wear his tennis shoes because we have a lot of work to do. 

Pam's love of our dogs, especially our larger dogs, is well known around the shelter.  She works tirelessly to improve the social skills of our dogs and you’ll find her walking each dog and giving them lots of treats to let them know how much they mean to her.

Pam had a vision for a new dog enrichment area and Pam and her husband, Bob Marcus’s generosity helped turn this vision into reality. Delko’s Den was dedicated and officially opened in March of this year and it’s a great place for our dogs to burn off their excess energy and have fun navigating their way around the obstacle course.

In partnership with Canine PhD, we are offering dog training workshops for foster and adoptive parents and members of our community to help set them up for success with their dogs.

Pam represents us on Fox 5’s Pet of the Day segments, transports dogs from animal control, donated the funds for us to build a new dog greeting shed, and one of the things you’ll hear most from Pam is “how can I help?”

These are all just some of the examples of Pam’s commitment to providing our dogs the ability to live their best lives until they find their forever homes.

It gives us great pleasure to recognize Pam Marcus as this year’s Pets' Choice Award recipient.
